Riding from Sheffield to the Far East

More than 130 workers from city centre businesses cycled '“ collectively '“ from Sheffield to Thailand this week, after clocking up over 7,900 miles on a bike loan programme.

They’re now set to be joined by more than 80 new city cyclists as the deadline closes this weekend for anyone who wants to make more everyday journeys by bicycle through the council’s CycleBoost scheme.

There are still a few places left before Sunday’s deadline for people who want to loan a bike and take up the free urban cycling tips sessions

“CycleBoost loans are for people who are thinking about cycling to work, education or training, but don’t want to invest in a decent city bike until they’ve given it a try to see whether they can actually do it,” said Paul Sullivan, senior transport planner at the council.
