Hollywood star Richard E Grant walked the streets of Sheffield in shimmering blue eye shadow and a natty turquoise jacket as filming continued for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the city.

The 62-year-old Oscar nominated star cut a colourful character as cameras rolled in Deerlands Avenue, Parson Cross yesterday.

Shooting on the film, a screen adaptation of the stage play of the same name, got under way last month – with scenes being shot all across Sheffield.

The actor plays dress shop owner Hugo and his drag queen alter ego Loco Chanelle in the film, inspired by the 2011 BBC Three documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16.

As well as eye shadow, the actor also sported stick on face gems and lip gloss and a silk scarf tied into a bow.

And completing the look were an ear-ring and painted nails – a far cry from shambolic and shabby alcoholic Withnail in the film that first propelled him to stardom, Withnail and I.

The cast were on location at a block of flats that were dressed for filming with metallic streamers, hanging flowers and balloons.

As the camera rolled the actors were showered with multicoloured confetti as they cheered and waved at a white limousine that was parked up on the street.

The character of Jamie, played by Max Harwood, 21,  could be seen standing out of he sunroof of the vehicle.

The film also stars Sharon Horgan, Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire and Shobna Gulati.

The musical was originally staged at The Crucible in Sheffield in 2017 before moving to London's West End later that year.
