A licence review of a Sheffield pub where ‘assaults, drug use and dealing’ were reported to police has been deferred.

The Timber Top in Shirecliffe was due to have its premises licence reviewed last Thursday.

A report to Sheffield Council’s licensing committee said South Yorkshire Police received several reports about incidents there, including a man being found with a knife wound, fighting inside and police finding a damaged vehicle outside smelling of cannabis.

The leaseholder said ‘everything possible’ was being done to run the pub safely.

A council spokesman said the meeting had been deferred until the end of October as ‘the applicant claimed he had not received the report and had not had time to appoint a solicitor’.
