REVIEW: Disney On Ice presents Frozen, Sheffield Arena

Frozen stars Alexe Gilles, who plays Elsa and and Taylor Firth, as Anna, say they have developed a real-life sister relationship on the road with Disney On Ice

Seriously, she just waved right at her. And - just like that - it’s a perfect night.

Made even better by the slew of Disney princesses that follow - first Cinderella, and Rapunzel, and then Ariel and, just when I don’t think she can handle anymore, Mickey and Minnie appear on the ice. Pure magic.

As mummy to the biggest Frozen fan ever born (seriously), I knew Disney’s ice-bound re-telling was going to be a hit for us, but even I wasn’t expecting them to nail it quite as well as they did. The atmosphere was electric in the arena on opening night; hundreds of Anna and Elsa lookalikes waving flashing wands as the lights dimmed and we were all transported to the fantastical kingdom of Arendelle.

The show captures all the best moments, from the sisters’ first snowman-building exploits as children, all the way to the thoroughly triumphant ending on the icy glades.

The skating cast perfectly captured everything we love best about the main characters- the Duke of Wessleton in particular looked like he’d stepped straight off the screen!

We were wowed by the big dance numbers at the ball, amazed by the incredible costumes of the trolls and in awe of the monstrous creation that was ‘Marshmallow.’

The highlight of the night, for me, was hearing thousands of small children singing their hearts out along with Elsa as she finally decided to just ‘Let It Go.’

Goosebump-inspiring.

Good job Disney.
