REVEALED: Exciting plans for THREE new food business in Sheffield

A new deli serving craft beers and wines alongside specialty coffee and exotic teas, could open at a former hair salon in Broomhill.

Ginger would add a ‘new dimension’ to the vibrant food and drink scene in Broomhill, according to the team behind the project.

They have applied to open on Glossop Road, on the corner of Peel Street, where they hope to sell produce sourced from Sheffield wherever possible, showcasing local and independent producers.

The Scandi-themed deli would open until around 6pm during the week and 10pm at weekends, it is proposed, and there would be searing for up to 24 customers.

In the city centre, a taste of Portugal is set to arrive with a shop dedicated to selling only authentic Portuguese custard tarts - also known as Pastéis de Nata.

Patisserie Lisboa is planned for St Paul’s Parade, next to the Peace Gardens, in a former shop.

A statement submitted to Sheffield Council say: “We are proposing to bring to Sheffield the very best Portuguese pastries, to be freshly made on-site and giving our customers the opportunity of seeing how these are made.

“We are bringing from Portugal original recipes, our own pastry chefs with more than 50 years collective experience, and using Portuguese produce to achieve the most authentic taste possible outside of Portugal.”

And in S11 work has started on the former Psalter Tavern pub, on Psalter Lane, which was popular with students for many years.

Plans say there will be a separate ‘lounge bar’created while the rest of the building will be retained as a bar, restaurant and hotel.

The pub closed at the end of 2016 and had been considered for residential development when it was first put up for sale.
