Revamp on the way at Sheffield's Porter Brook pub

Plans have been submitted to revamp a pub on Ecclesall Road.

The Porter Brook is in line for a refurbishment to its outside drinking area by the venue’s owner, Greene King.

The proposals involve creating a new balcony outside an existing outbuilding behind the pub, facing the Porter Brook itself, and providing a 20ft shipping container to offer more storage space.

More internal seating and an area of raised wooden decking will also be created in the pub’s rear yard, matching the surface level with the height of the internal floor. This will make accessing the pub easier for disabled customers.

The balcony will be made of steel and glass, a design ‘intended to keep the visual impact to a minimum, and reduce its overall bulk’, a statement to the council by architect PDS said.

The shipping container’s ‘visual impact’ will also be ‘minor’, said the firm.
