A redeveloped former Sheffield school that has been turned into a new home for businesses is celebrating its first birthday with an open-air party.

Sum Studios – the redeveloped former Anns Grove School building in Heeley – is hosting the party on Saturday, July 19, between 6pm and midnight.

The first phase of the project was opened last July by the Heeley Development Trust, with one of the ex-school buildings turned into space for local businesses.

It is now home to 19 private firms, employing more than 60 people.

Andy Jackson, trust manager, said: “The first year has been amazing.

“We’ve saved a beautiful building and now have an exciting mix of tenants, smashing our year one target. It feels right we celebrate that within the community, so this party is about getting the people who live and work here and in the city together for a really good time. ’

The birthday party is free to enter and will included live music and DJs, street food stalls and a bar.

It is hoped the other two buildings on site will be redeveloped in the near future – visit for information.
