RETRO: Melinda Messenger opens Sheffield nightclubs - while DQ and Niche are no more
Melinda, a model who presented Cowboy Builders for Channel 5 and has also taken part in Celebrity Big Brother, switched on the lights at a nightspotcomplex at Centertainment.
Back then, it was envisaged that Centertainment would be an all-in-one leisure and going out facility, with clubs and bars complementing the cinema and restaurants.
Some of the venues there included Brannigans and Club Wow.

Former house music venue DQ nightclub in Bowdon Street closed in December and could even end up as a church, under current plans by Christ Church Central to take the building on and convert it from a shrine to alcohol consumption and dancing to a place of holy worship.
Niche nightclub on Sidney Street opened in 1992 and provided a ‘bassline’ club night.
But it was shut in 2005 after a police raid and was left disused thereafter.
But just last month, the site was finally bulldozed - and Niche nightclub is officially no more.
