The new building, going up on the site of the former Birch Hall, is due to open in July in time for the 2017-18 academic year.

It will become the latest in a series of student accommodation blocks in the area, running from the University of Sheffield buildings around Mappin Street through to Broad Lane and the proposed complexes off Hollis Croft and Solly Street.

Developers are also quickly putting up a huge block in nearby Rockingham Street.
