Retail plans go on display

Have your say

PROPOSALS for a new market and retail development in Barnsley town centre are being shown to the public at an exhibition next week.

The display is opening in a retail unit on May Day Green, opposite the Carphone Warehouse store, between 11am and 7pm on Thursday, and 10am and 4pm on Friday and Saturday.

The exhibition will give people a chance to find out about the Barnsley Markets Project, speak to those involved in the plans and give their opinions.

Tony Baker, Director of the 1249 Regeneration Partnership, the group developing the project, said: “The Barnsley Markets Project is a chance to provide new facilities that enhance the town centre.”

Following the exhibition, a planning application is to be submitted in June, with work set to start in summer 2012.
