Residents urged to close windows as major fire breaks out on Sheffield industrial estate

Six fire crews were called out to a large fire at a warehouse unit at 11.55pm last night at Parkwood Business Park, Parkwood Road.

The crews from Rivelin, Central, Parkway, Birley Moor, Elm Lane and Tankersley stations were sent to tackle the blaze, which was well alight and firefighters are working hard to get the fire under control.

There is a large amount of smoke in the area and local residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed until the smoke clears.

Firefighters are asking people to try and avoid the area if possible. Parkwood Road and Hoyland Road are currently closed due to the firefighting actions.

An investigation into the cause of the fire will take place once the fire is completely out.
