Over 80 residents attended a public meeting in a bid to save Darfield post office from closing.
The aim was to start a campaign fighting against the proposed closure of the post office branch on Garden Street.
A petition has been launched and residents have been urged to write to their MP and Post Office officials.
Geoffrey Hutchinson, chairman of Darfield’s Amenity Society, said: “If Darfield is to be regenerated with new shops in the centre, a Post Office with a range of services is essential.
“Our MP Michael Dugher is backing the campaign, also the three ward councillors. Indeed, I have yet to find anyone in Darfield who would agree to the closure. We need every resident though to play their part, by signing the petition.”
