Residents evacuated in Chesterfield bomb scare

Police launched a probe after a ‘suspicious device’ was found in a Chesterfield street.

At 9.35pm on Friday police were called to a house on Church Lane, Calow, after a suspicious device was found outside a property.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal team were called to investigate the device.

Police said that the safety of the public is paramount and because of this a number of properties were evacuated. An evacuation centre was set up at Calow Primary School, North Road.

A spokeswoman for Derbyshire Police said today that they had no further update on the incident.
