Yorkshire Water has resurfaced around 1.5km of its footpath on the southern side of More Hall reservoir near Stocksbridge, as part of plans to improve its beauty spots.

Works have included widening and surfacing the path with aggregate to create a smooth-running surface suitable for wheelchair and pushchair users, as well as drainage improvements.

Sheffield City Council granted permission for Yorkshire Water to use some of its land to create a section of the new path.

Alastair Harvey, recreation advisor at Yorkshire Water, said: “The path, prior to the works, was very narrow in places and ran through natural woodland which became very muddy and slippery during wet periods and winter months.

"Now the improvement works have been completed there is a circular route around the reservoir, suitable for all visitors, which uses a combination of road and path.”
