Researchers put hearts into charity walk

A TEAM of 20 heart attack researchers will put their best feet forward when they take part in a sponsored walk along Sheffield’s river banks.

Cristina Staicu, a PhD student in the research department of the British Heart Foundation and Lauren Mallinson, the charity’s volunteer manager, are urging Sheffield residents to join them to do the Five Weirs Walk.

The event takes place on September 11 and has been organised by British Heart Foundation volunteers from the University of Sheffield’s Department of Cardiovascular Science.

The new event marks five decades of investment in medical research by the British Heart Foundation.

Around 20 researchers, many whose vital work is funded by the charity, will walk five miles along the River Don from Meadowhall to Sheffield city centre.
