Rescue dogs set to be pampered with massages at a Sheffield animal sanctuary

The spa treatments will be provided at Thornberry Animal Sanctuary in North Anston by K9 Bodycare company founder, Jayne Strange, who says she believes massage therapy can help to restore, maintain and enhance a dog’s overall wellness, just as it does for humans.

Jayne, who offers clinical canine massage therapy for dogs, and is a member of the Canine Massage Guild, said: “Just like humans, massage therapy for dogs can improve mobility and flexibility, quality of life, pain management, and promotes relaxation.

"I am thrilled to be working with Thornberry Animal Sanctuary providing treatment to the dogs, helping them feel more comfortable and happy.

“The charity does such a brilliant job providing sanctuary for dogs; some of whom have found themselves in terrible situations.”

Heather Scott, the Thornberry charity’s marketing and fundraising organiser, said partnerships with local businesses are vital to the sanctuary’s survival.

“It’s absolutely fantastic when a local business shares our passion and wants to be involved in our charity; whether it be fundraising, sponsoring a kennel or volunteering with us; it all makes a great difference,” said Heather.

“Our team is committed to providing the best quality of life for the animals in our care but, understandably, it can still be a stressful environment for them whilst they are waiting to be adopted; we are really excited that Jayne will be giving them their own little spa treatment!”

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary receives no funding and relies on fundraising and donations to continue. The charity will be hosting its Pooches in the Park fundraising event on Sunday, May 28 at Clifton Park in Rotherham.
