Reptile visitor to farm shop

Have your say

YOU’RE more likely to meet blizzards than lizards in South Yorkshire at this time of the year.

But don’t tell that to one farm shop employee.

Clare Lyons, supervisor at Cannon Hall farm shop, Barnsley, received a shock while restocking, for nestling in a box of new potatoes, which had been delivered from Suffolk, was a baby gecko.

Claire said: “Suffolk is not known for exotic reptiles, so we assume our visitor hitched a ride at our supplier’s depot. Although at Cannon Hall Farm we’re used to a variety of animals, geckos are beyond our expertise, so we are looking for someone to give a home to our small, but intrepid, traveller.”
