Renewed threat to deport asylum seeker

SHEFFIELD-based asylum seeker Bernard Mboueyeu has been detained again and is due to be deported next week - just a month-and-a-half after he was previously released and allowed to return to his city home.

Officials from the UK Border Agency took the Cameroonian into detention on Tuesday morning and is currently detained in Pennine House in Manchester.

Bernard is due to be deported on Monday.

A vigil will be held in support of Bernard outside Sheffield Town Hall tomorrow at 4pm.

Bernard’s wife Sharon, who lives in Wincobank, said: “Our whole family, especially my grandchildren, are devastated by this cruel decision. Of course, we’re going to keep fighting to keep Bernard safe - at home in Sheffield.”

Bernard fears he faces jail if he returns to his homeland for speaking out against the country’s current regime.
