Remploy strike divides staff

Have your say

STRIKING staff at Remploy factories in Chesterfield and Sheffield padlocked the gates shut and glued the locks to prevent some workers breaking the walkout.

Members of the GMB and Unite trade unions voted to strike in protest at the Government’s decision to stop subsidising the loss-making company and spend the money creating placements for disabled people with mainstream employers. In Sheffield, some employees climbed over the fence to get into work - despite being warned by union officials that their pictures would be put on the internet.
