Redundancy blow family win holiday

Have your say

A SOUTH Yorkshire family has won a luxury weekend trip to Alton Towers - just for going swimming.

Lucky Ruth Richardson, a care home worker from Dodworth, entered Barnsley Premier Leisure’s Swim To Win contest when she took her 11-year-old son Robbie to swim at the Metrodome Waterpark.

She shares the Alton Towers prize with her husband David, who works at Potters Bakery in Barnsley, their 19-year-old daughter Lisa, a trainee nurse at Barnsley Hospital, and Robbie, a pupil at Keresforth Primary School.

The family are also in the running for an all-expenses-paid trip to Florida.

Ruth said: “When I heard we had won I was just buzzing all day. We have never been to Alton Towers so we’re really looking forward to it – and we’re so excited about the chance to win a holiday to Florida.

“We haven’t been able to get away for the past few years after David was made redundant, but now things are really looking up! I am encouraging all my friends to go swimming so they have a chance to win as well.”

Each monthly prize winner goes through to the final with first prize being a trip to Florida.
