Reduced pay for managers

M Vaughan's letter (Star, June 17) - http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/your-say/freeze-jobs-for-management-1-7968918), calling for a freeze on management pay in the council and funding librarians instead, strikes a chord with Green Party councillors.

The letter highlighted recent appointments to assistant director positions within the Council, at salaries of over £65,000.

While I would not necessarily agree that these are “non-jobs,” Green budget proposals have consistently called for a reduction in high-end pay in the council.

This is to reduce inequality between the highest and lowest paid.

Our budget proposals for the council call for a reduction in management pay, with the money saved going to those in greatest need.
