Red Cross shines light on local branch

The British Red Cross in Sheffield is inviting local people to join them to hear about the charity's work in South Yorkshire.

Local Red Cross fundraisers are putting on an informal event to meet local people and let them know how their donations, of time or money, are helping people in the city every year.

Community fundraiser Rachel Beresford said: “We would be thrilled to welcome as many people as possible to our event and get to know the Sheffield community a little better.

People are often familiar with the charity’s international work, as we are constantly seen on the news in places like Syria, Sudan and Yemen, but what we do locally is often not as well known. Our community work is a huge proportion of what we do – and what our staff and 2,400 Yorkshire volunteers deliver on a daily basis.

“We want to discuss how the organisation funds it’s work and we will be happy to answer questions on what we do and how to get involved with supporting our work.”

The event will be held on March 17 from 2pm-4pm at the Red Cross Sheffield office on Brightside Lane.
