Record comes out in the Nick of time

WE Are The Black Lights use tomorrow's Razor Stiletto as the launchpad for their new EP, featuring the diverse talents of Human League tour guitarist and fret synth fella Nicky Bee.

Also of The Ivories, Double No No and assistant to Hiem and Kings Have Long Arms, he is joined by former Scuba promoter and impresario Jamie Wilkins on bass and frontman multi-instrumentalist, lyricist and producer Liam O'Shea. Anticipate dark, psychedelic rock and roll not unlike BRMC.

On with them at Sheffield's DQ are Black Ghosts, an enigmatic and mysterious duo who in previous incarnations have been responsible for dancefloor mayhem: vocalist Simon Lord was former singer with indie popsters Simian of We Are Your Friends fame.

Decade of degrade for Disko

TWO anniversaries combine/collide tomorrow with one accommodating the other, literally.

Nocturnal reprobates Rough Disko chalk up three years by helping Yellow Arch Studios - recording and rehearsal home to Arctic Monkeys, Richard Hawley, Jarvis Cocker etc - celebrate 10 years as an integral address on Sheffield's music map.

"Everyone's learned something from being here, whether it's how to operate the sound for a band to tuning a guitar," say the Disko chaps, taking four local crews to Neepsend for three rooms of eclectic sounds, including Two Left Feet, The Sama Roots Soundsystem and The Tea Dance.
