Recollections of City Choir

Have your say

I LOVED the photos of the City Hall. They brought back happy memories of the late 40s when, as a pupil at Woodbourne School, I was a member of The Sheffield City Choir, though I was not there for Churchill as I left school in 1950.

But I remember singing for the Russians before that. We also made a record, Nymphs and Shepperds. Also I was on two shows for the charity, Fairthorne Children’s Home; one as a sailor (uniforms loaned by the sea cadets) and the other as an American bobby-soxa (dress loaned to me by our music teacher Miss Ena Wright - things were in short supply in those days).

I have told my children and grandchildren all about this and pointed on the photo printed where I sat, to the right of the famous lions.
