South Yorkshire Police said the motorist was driving his car in an anti social manner around Cortonwood Retail Park on Tuesday evening.

However, the newly qualified driver came to a sudden halt when he smashed his car into a large metal barrier after speeding around a corner.

Police said that the driver collided with the barrier head on and wrote his car off in the process.

The driver will now be sent to court for a disqualification order after police discovered that he was not insured on the car.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "This vehicle was driving in an anti social manner around Cortonwood retail park.

"Unfortunately for the driver he didn't see the large metal barrier as he sped around the corner and collided head on with it writing off his car.

"Further checks by us revealed he wasn't insured and he had only just PASSED his driving test. So car to the compound and driver to court for disqualification."
