Adam Reach had earlier given the Owls the lead in rather fortunate circumstances, but how did the Wednesday players fare in the 1-1 draw? Our man at the game, Danny Hall, gives his ratings.

Kieron Westwood - 6. No chance with Barnley's goal, and did well earlier to push McGeehan's effort past his post

Jack Hunt - 7. Very good going forward and also snuffed out a dangerous Barnsley attack with a superb covering tackle

Tom Lees - 6. Twice should have scored with a header and did well at the other end to snuff out a dangerous Bradshaw chance

Joost van Aken - 6. Comfortable on the ball but beaten too easy by Bradshaw. Booked for cynical foul on Thiam

Daniel Pudil - 6. Looked determined to seize his chance, but was replaced after picking up a second-half injury

Ross Wallace - 5. Quiet throughout and one basic misplaced pass summed up his afternoon. Replaced by Joao with eight minutes left

Barry Bannan - 7. My man of the match. Two excellent bits of skill almost resulted in goals and he was a threat throughout

Kieran Lee - 6. Unlucky not to score a stunner in the first half, when he hit the woodwork. Worked tirelessly

Adam Reach - 7. Close to man of the match. Man of the first half, if you like. A constant threat and scored a fortunate goal

Gary Hooper - 6. Wasn't quite at his best but linked the play well. Had a decent chance late on

Steven Fletcher - 6. Fluffed his lines early on and dropped deep to affect play, but was a display of industry rather than invention.

Not used: Joe Wildsmith, David Jones, Liam Palmer, Frederico Venancio.
