BIRD experts are planning guided walks of the Hatfield Moors nature reserve to see rare nightjars.
The migrant birds are seen at night on the reserve and their presence at the Humberhead Peatlands, of which the reserve is part, led to the awarding of Special Protection Area status under the European Union Birds Directive. The site is an internationally important breeding area for the nocturnal, insect-feeding bird.
The walk on Friday, July 1, starts at 9pm and those taking part should wear suitable clothing and footwear. Walks should take up to three hours. Children are welcome with adult supervision.
All walks are free but numbers are limited due to their popularity so booking is essential. Call 07766 420 290 before 7pm on day of walk.
