Customer services director Liam Smith, who is from Sheffield, said: “Rank looked carefully at a number of locations for our new customer services hub, and Sheffield was chosen primarily for two reasons, its skilled and competitive workforce and the investment in the city’s regeneration and development.

“The new Rank Customer Service Hub, which will open in September, represents a significant investment by the group and we look forward to a long and successful relationship with Sheffield.”

Coun Leigh Bramall, deputy leader and cabinet member for business and economy, said: “Attracting a company of Rank’s size, history and ambition shows that companies want to do business in Sheffield and in this case, move their customer service operation from London to the city.

“This relocation will create 60 jobs in the heart of the city and shows Rank, and a growing number of other major blue chip companies, share in our vision for Sheffield.”
