Ram raiders stole bikes from north Derbyshire shop

Ram raiders stole three bikes after driving a car through the front of a north Derbyshire shop.

They used a Ford Escort to force their way into Wide Open Cycles, in Southgate, Eckington, at about 2am on Tuesday, January 5.

A grey Marin Rocky Ridge mountain bike was stolen from the shop, along with a pink Cuda BMX, a white Haro BMX and some clothing.

Police officers investigating the ram raid want to hear from witnesses.

They also want anyone in the area who has private CCTV cameras to come forward.

One man has been charged over the incident.

Raymond Boston, aged 28, of Bower Farm Road, Old Whittington, Chesterfield, has been charged with theft, taking a vehicle without consent, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and handling stolen goods.

A 29-year-olds arrested on suspicion of burglary has been bailed pending further inquiries.
