A SHEFFIELD Council member joined protestors in York to protest against Government moves to outsource NHS services to the private sector.
Coun Gillian Creasy joined fellow Green Party members at the rally last weekend.
Coun Creasy, a GP in Sheffield, said: “These reforms will be totally destructive to our best efforts to run a cooperative, integrated, organised and planned service.
“We need an NHS which is comprehensive and integrated. We need an NHS which is about health, not just sickness.
“It simply will not work if we have private companies cherry-picking the most profitable parts.”
Coun Andrew Cooper, a Green Party member from Kirklees, said: “This is a day for unity in our opposition to the creeping privatisation of our NHS.”
