Train services running through both stations may be diverted between Meadowhall and Swinton South Yorkshire, whilst Rotherham Central will be not be served.
Travel disruption is expected until midday.
The disruption will affect services from Sheffield and Meadowhall travelling towards Doncaster and Hull.
