A GIANT white elephant is being paraded around South Yorkshire today by campaigners opposed to the planned new £33 billion high speed rail network.

Stop HS2 members were bringing the elephant to Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg’s office, in Nether Green, Sheffield, at 8am, followed by Rotherham Hospital at 10am, then Labour leader Ed Miliband’s office in Doncaster at noon, followed by Barnsley College at 2pm.

The group believes the new network will not be worth the cost and takes money from other transport schemes.
