Racing preview for Wednesday, March 23

Under Siege showed up well on his recent return to action and that run should have put him spot on for the 32Red.com Handicap at Kempton.

David Simcock only picked up the four-year-old towards the end of last season with the son of Invincible Spirit having previously been trained by Kevin Ryan, winning one of his three starts before changing hands for 25,000 guineas last July.

He failed to cut much ice on his first couple of starts for Simcock before a switch to the all-weather at Chelmsford in October brought about a first win for new connections.

Under Siege was an easy winner that day, a fact that was not lost on the handicapper as he raised his handicap mark by 9lb in time for his reappearance at Chelmsford earlier this month.

He ran well off that revised figure and from an unfavourable draw, closing in on the winner towards the finish but just failing to get up by half a length.

A further 2lb rise for that defeat is a bit harsh but Sophie Killoran will once again be in the plate to take off a handy 7lb and she has forged a good relationship with this runner.

Torreon has had his career hindered by a knee injury so far but he appears to be firing on all cylinders now and the 32Red Handicap looks a good opportunity for him.

The five-year-old did not make his debut until this February when he finished a fair fourth at Wolverhampton, stepping up on that next time to finish second before finally getting his head in front on his most recent outing.

That was a decent effort and he appeared to be good value for his three-length verdict as he was still very green in the race, suggesting further progress here is not out of the questioin.

Elusivity is twice a winner at Southwell so at least we know he is fully effective on the Fibresand ahead of the Daily Price Boosts At Unibet Handicap.

A number of his better efforts have come at the Nottinghamshire venue, winning his last two starts here before going on to claim further success at Wolverhampton last time out.
