A mystery woman, ‘in her 40s,’ landed the five-figure prize after picking three correct numbers on the Irish Lottery in the High Street store of Betfred in Bentley.

Now the woman has a chance to turn her windfall into a mega £1m – but the deadline to register for Betfred’s Bonus Ball Bonanza is noon this Saturday.

Betfred has put up posters around the town and is also considering hiring a car with a loud speaker to drive down the High Street and ask for people’s help in locating the woman.

Betfred’s store manager Tony Deakin said it is now a race against the clock.

He said: “The thing is she only comes in once a week for about half an hour with her husband or partner after noon on a Saturday.

“With the deadline to register for the bonus ball being at noon, she’ll miss the chance to play for a million pounds.”

Tony said the couple, who have been coming into the shop for about three years, play the Irish, Spanish and New York lotteries every Saturday and stay for around half an hour.

Frantic efforts to locate the woman have now begun and it’s become the talk of the town.

“It’s been strange, people are talking about just who this woman is,” Tony said. “People know each other around here and I get people coming up to me in the pub asking if she’s come and claimed her prize.

“Other customers have been racking their brains as to who they are. They all say they recognise the couple but don’t know their names.

“We’ve even asked taxi drivers who come in the shop and they also say they recognise them but don’t know them.

“They told staff that they were going away for a few days and I honestly don’t think they even know they have won the £75,000.”

The woman is described as wearing ‘mod’ style clothes, has a short dark ‘pixie’ haircut and is around 5ft 3ins.

Her husband or partner is said to be around 6ft 3ins and has the same clothing style. He is usually seen wearing a Crombie coat and Dr Marten shoes.

Peter Spencer, from Betfred’s head office, said a marketing campaign to find the woman is now well under way.

He said: “The shop contacted us to help find this woman who could miss out on the chance to win a million pounds.

“We’ve sent big posters to the shop and even considered hiring a car with a loudspeaker to go down Bentley High Street asking people for help to locate this woman.

“The race is really on to locate this woman. She has the chance to become a millionaire and it’s likely she doesn’t even know she’s won the £75,000.”
