Race puts city on the map

Have your say

LORD Mayor of Sheffield Coun John Campbell says the Great Yorkshire Run was ‘a wonderful advertisement for the city of Sheffield’.

Summing up the day, he said: “This is the second year I have been at this event. It puts Sheffield on the map from the sporting point of view. We have had a fantastic year with so many individuals and teams who have used our sporting facilities.

“Yet again this has been a wonderful advertisement for the city of Sheffield.”

Meanwhile Julie Dore, leader of Sheffield Council, said: “It’s wonderful to see we’ve still got that Olympic fever where everyone wants to get involved in sport and physical activity. It raises lots of money for charity, which is one of the most important things.”
