Quarry dump plan opposed

RESIDENTS are objecting to plans to use an old quarry in the Derbyshire Dales as a rubbish dump.

An application has been made by company JC Balls to to begin landfill operations at Fall Hill Quarry on Hockley Lane, near Ashover, which would see 32-tonne lorries making constant use of two routes that pass through Stretton, Woolley Moor, Old Tupton and Littlemoor over the next three years.

People living on the route have formed a protest group, Fall Hill Landfill Action Group.

The group is urging members of the public to send objections to local councillors.
