Quad bike ploughs into pushchair carrying toddler

A police hunt is underway for a quad bike rider who crashed into a toddler in a pushchair.

The crash happened on Rolls Crescent, Rawmarsh, as a 23-year-old woman was pushing her two-year-old child in a pushchair.

South Yorkshire Police said the pram rolled over, leaving the toddler with facial injuries.

Detectives investigating the incident believe the quad bike rider deliberately aimed at the woman.

Sergeant Tony Lee said: “This appears to have been a deliberate act by the quad bike rider and this has resulted in a small child being injured.

“This complete disregard for a woman and child’s safety is disgraceful and we need to identify the person responsible for this crime.

“We are investigating this as assault and would appreciate the help of the public and local community to trace this quad bike and its rider.”

The woman aimed at by the quad bike rider said: “I fully support police action as this could have seriously injured or even killed my child.”

The incident happened at 5.20pm on Thursday, November 24.

The quad bike rider, who was wearing a helmet, was riding a red machine.
