Putting the focus on Sheffield society's photographs

From images of steelworkers to sport and stunning landscapes, members of the Sheffield Photographic Society are putting their best work on show at their annual exhibition.

More than 170 prints will be on display at Sheffield Cathedral from the club’s 100 members, including professionals, semi-professionals and talented amateurs.

Organising the exhibition is a year-round job, and continues through to the dismantling on the last day. For 12 years, the operation has been overseen by member Keith Allchin, but this year he is stepping down from the role.

“After all the work by myself and other members, it is great to see all the threads coming together to create a successful exhibition,” said Keith.

Liz Pickering, the group’s president, said she thought the print exhibition was one of their best yet.

The exhibition runs from Monday on midday - with an unveiling by the Lord Mayor - until 2pm next Sunday.

Members of the society, which reached its 150th anniversary in 2014, will be on hand from midday to 2pm on weekdays and Sunday, and all day on Saturday, to answer any questions. Admission is free. Visit www.sheffield-photographer.org.uk for details.
