A ROTHERHAM school has won a national award for its work in helping to produce a popular community newsletter.
Dinnington Comprehensive pupils Megan Woodhouse and Jodie Crook received the Best Community Initiative award at the first ever Shine School Media Awards in London.
The first issue of The Dinnington Newsletter was read by 3,000 people and the second issue is now in production with pages sponsored by local businesses and groups.
The school got involved in the project through the Community Champions initiative, and won the prize of a top computer software system.
Pupils are now planning their own online school newspaper and hope to encourage more youngsters to try their hand at journalism.
