Pupils' 'White-hot' logo challenge

THESE youngsters are hoping to earn themselves a place in Edlington school history.

They are taking part in a competition to design the school logo for Edlington’s secondary school, which is soon to become known as Sir Thomas Wharton Community College.

There were more than 200 entries in the competition for students and staff at the Tait Avenue comprehensive’s feeder schools to influence the new school design.

Following a selection process 21 students and staff were chosen to work with ex-Edlington pupil David White, now creative director of advertising design company Public.

David is part of the team who designed the Follow the Spirit logo for Doncaster Council.

After further shortlisting process it is hoped the final logo will be decided at the next full governors’ meeting next Tuesday October 23.

Acting head Keith Binks said: “The school is grateful for the help David is giving in creating a new logo.’’
