Pupils at a Sheffield school have been given a tour of their new classrooms after a £2 million transformation.

Birkdale Prep School’s infants department, which has been based in Clarke House, Broomhill, for 25 years, is moving into nearby Belmayne House on Clarkehouse Road from next September.

The new accommodation has been designed specifically to suit the needs of youngsters aged four to seven and includes spacious classrooms with interactive smart screens and a music and drama studio.

An art room, children’s kitchen and medical room as well as an outdoor play and learning area are also included.

Chris Burch, head of the prep school, toured the new site with pupils.

He said: “This is an exciting time in the history of Birkdale Prep School.

“Due to its continuing success the school is investing in the future.

“This investment will ensure we not only offer the best facilities to our younger pupils but also allow us to reorganise the buildings at Clarkehouse to improve the learning environment for our prep junior pupils.”

The prep school is also holding an open morning on Saturday.
