Pupils' GCSE delight as summer of waiting comes to an end
Many schools reported improvements and some posted record-breaking results.
There were identical smiles at Outwood Academy where four sets of twins picked up their results. Jake and Ciaran Rooney, both 16, from Stradbroke, were both thrilled to see plenty of A*s.

Hide AdJake, who started sitting exams in Year 9, said: “I’m very happy because I spent quite a lot of time working hard and it paid off.
“I couldn’t have done it without the teachers, they were really helpful.”
The twins will both go on to sixth form at All Saints Catholic High School.
A total of 67 per cent of Outwood pupils achieved A* to C including English and maths, in line with last year and a big improvement on 40 per cent in 2013.

Hide AdBeth Awbas got 15 A* and A grades. The 16-year-old from Intake said: “It’s what I was predicted but definitely not what I expected, so it’s been a happy morning.
“My time at the school has been amazing, especially since it became Outwood. I definitely wouldn’t have got my results without them.”
