Pupils break charity target

Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice is well on the way to opening its new Teenage Den - thanks to the generosity of pupils at Sheffield Park Academy.

Park has chosen the hospice as its chosen charity, with students staging regular events to raise funds.

Now students and staff have helped to break through the £1,000 barrier, with a Sports Relief event taking their total to £1,195.

Student Brendan Belk said: “We decided as a group that Bluebell Wood was the ideal choice as the academy’s main charity, particularly because of the work it does in supporting young people, many of whom are the same age as us.”

The academy is to stage a Community Fun Day on June 30. A new ‘fundraising thermometer’ is also being installed in reception.
