Pumpkin competition

Have your say

GARDENERS in Sheffield are being urged to enter a monster of a competition - and help out a very worthy cause at the same time.

Whirlow Hall Farm is appealing to the green fingered to have a go at a new challenge – a pumpkin growing competition.

The farm is sending out free seeds donated by Tozer. Children and adults, amateurs and professionals are being encouraged to take part in the challenge and bring their resulting pumpkins to the farm for judging later in the year.

The produce will be displayed at the farm’s Horticultural Show, which takes places at the annual Farm Fayre on September 18.

Prizes will be given to the best all rounder, with the pumpkins judged on size as well as appearance.

Pumpkin seeds are best planted by the end of this month. Call the farm on 0114 235 2678 to request some.
