A PUB in Sheffield has been given permission to extend its opening hours – despite concerns from residents living nearby.
The York, on the junction of Glossop Road and Fulwood Road, will now be open for an extra half an hour every night, until midnight on Sundays to Thursdays, and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
At a meeting of Sheffield Council’s licensing sub-committee, Coun Jayne Dunn said the later closing time would attract more students. She added that she didn’t want Broomhill to be ‘an extension of the city centre’.
But Alex Liddle, operations manager of Forum Cafe Bars Ltd, which runs The York, said the new hours would allow patrons to stagger their departure from local pubs. The application was granted subject to a number of conditions.
