A CITY pub which has become a hub of the local community is set to reopen following a massive refurbishment.

The Gypsy Queen in Drakehouse Lane, Beighton, was closed earlier this month to allow an army of tradesmen to carry out a complete refit.

It will reopen on Thursday as part of the Hungry Horse stable which aims to offer high quality, big value food, and a choice of beers.

The pub now boasts a large family restaurant and an over 18s sports bar.

Pub manager Glester Clarke promised customers that they will find a complete new look with improvements to both the bar and restaurant areas,

He said: “The new development means that there is now something for everyone.

“We’ll be showing major live sporting events, as well as continuing our weekly quiz nights.

“We’re also going to be holding regular family days and occasional live entertainment.”
