A SHEFFIELD boozer which has become a ‘thriving community venue’ after years of decline has been named the Best Turnaround Pub in Yorkshire and the North East.

The Greystones Pub, which was reopened in November last year after extensive refurbishment by Thornbridge brewery and Enterprise Inns, was given the award by the Morning Advertiser - the UK’s leading magazine for the licensed trade.

The pub, formerly the Highcliffe Hotel, had lost its way for a number for years but the pub is now a thriving community venue with events for all the family including regular comedy and music nights, Thornbridge said.

The Greystones will now go forward to the National Final in early September where an overall champion turnaround pub will be announced.
