NOISE nuisance has cost a publican in Creswell, North Derbyshire.
Peter Whittington, responsible for running Viva La Mama’s public house - also known as Monros - was found guilty of causing noise nuisance to residents.
He was handed a fine and costs for more than £1,600 after a court heard he ‘failed’ to deal with noise problems stemming back three years.
Bolsover District Council said it received several complaints from residents about loud music, customers shouting, screaming, fighting and using foul and abusive language at the venue.
A noise abatement notice was issued, but North East Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates’ Court heard the problems continued. The premises are currently subject to stricter conditions following a review of its premises licence by Bolsover Council’s licensing committee.
