£300 grant for rustic seats

A GRANT of £300 has been received from the Rotary Club of Doncaster for Tickhill Countryside Group to provide around six large hardwood logs to act as rustic seats around Jubilee Wood.

The logs will be supplied by the Sandbeck Estate and any spare cash will be used to plant apple, pear and damson trees on the approach to the wood.

Tribute to head

STAFF at Hayfield School, Auckley, have paid tribute to John Bakewell, a former head of the English department, who died suddenly at his home in Warwickshire at the age of 69. Mr Bakewell taught at the school in the 1970s and went on to become a school inspector in Birmingham.
