Protest at flats scheme
RESIDENTS of Coalby Walk in Barnsley have submitted a petition opposing plans to build a seven-storey apartment block on nearby Sackville Street.
London-based Hind Property has submitted an outline application to knock down the former Fitzwilliam Inn and replace it with 38 flats.
But residents of council bungalows nearby are concerned about the height of the building and the loss of privacy.
They claim the development would make living in the street like living “in the bottom of a box”.
